DIET
CLERK JOB DESCRIPTION
SUMMARY: Under the direction
and supervision of the Registered Dietitian and the Assistant Manager, performs essential
clerical duties associated with the nutritional care and food service to all patients, and other
related tasks.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Keeps
patient kardexes current, recording diet changes as necessary.
2. Monitors flow of patient menus and prepares them for summarizing.
3. Checks menus before each meal, making additions and
deletions as needed and orders food from production units accordingly.
4. Performs certain quality assurance tasks as assigned.
5. Answers telephone, retrieves messages from fax machine,
relays information as needed, prepares and delivers late trays as well as other requested items to
the nursing units.
6. Makes rounds, picking up menus
and diet requisitions, and takes inventories of nursing unit pantry refrigeration temperatures and
between meal nourishment supplies.
7. Prepares and
delivers between meal and H.S. feedings to nursing units.
8. Assists with the employee cafeteria meal service and performs cashier’s
duties.
9. Assists in covering for Snack Bar
employee breaks and meal times.
10. Works other
positions within the departments as instructed by the Director of Food Services and/or
supervisory staff members.
11. Must maintain a current record of attendance to the
required inservices as determined by the institution on an annual basis.
