DIETARY AIDE JOB
DESCRIPTION
SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the
members of the supervisory staff, the Dietary Aide performs a variety of patient food service and
dishroom duties and other related tasks.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assembles
prepared food on trays for general and therapeutic diets.
2. Maintains tray line in a clean, neat and orderly manner.
3. Delivers food trucks to patient floors as specified. Returns them
to
the dishroom at designated.
4. Tends and loads dishmachine in patient/employee
dishroom.
5. Washes certain items by hand such as
pot, pans and utensils.
6. Disposes of trash and
garbage as scheduled. Cleans and sanitizes trash
containers as they are emptied.
7. Cleans
and sanitizes all food and supply carts in the department at the
end of each shift.
8. Is
responsible for cleaning all work tables and surrounding work areas
in the dishroom and pot washing area at the end of each meal period.
Sanitizes after cleaning.
9. Sweeps and mops floors throughout the department at designated times.
10. Maintains clean and sanitary dining areas prior to
and following each
meal period.
11. Assists in preparing such items as salads, dessert or
nourishments.
12. Assists in the storage of food
and supplies following deliveries using the
first-in, first-out method.
13. Prepares and
delivers late trays as instructed.
14. Performs
heavy cleaning following the cleaning schedule.
15. Assists in the set-up, service and clean-up of special meetings and functions.
16. Must maintain a current record of attendance to the
required inservices as
determined by the
institution on an annual basis.
